Michele Togno

Obtained his MSc at the university Politecnico di Milano, Italy, followed by a PhD in Physics at the Technische Univeritaet Muenchen, Germany. He worked as R&D physicist for IBA Dosimetry GmbH until 2018, when he moved to Switzerland to join the Center for Proton Therapy (CPT) of Paul Scherrer Institut. In his current position, he is responsible and coordinator of the dosimetry activities at CPT, and participates in the development, clinical integration, commissioning and maintenance of the dosimetry equipment of the center. He is active member of the work party WP2 (Dose assessment, quality assurance, dummy runs, technology inventory) of the European Particle Therapy Network – a task force of ESTRO. Recently, his research work focused on the investigation of dosimeters’ response in ultra-high dose rate (FLASH) proton therapy beams.



Ralf Dreindl, Medical Physicist, MedAustron Iontherapy Center



• Born on the 4th of October 1984
• Living in Vienna, Austria
• Studied Biomedical engineering at the Technical University of Vienna from 2006 to 2012
• Studied Medical Physics at the Medical University of Vienna from 2012 to 2016
• Clinical training for Medical Physicist certification at the department of Radiation Oncology, General Hospital / Medical University of Vienna from May 2012 to June 2014
• From July 2014 to Dec 2014 training at the Centre de Protonthérapie de l'Institut Curie in Orsay (CPO)
• Since January 2015 working at MedAustron as Medical Physicist
• Part of Beam delivery and Monte Carlo group (BD-MC group)
• Main areas of expertise: IDC, Dose delivery system, Film dosimetry, TP
• Happily married. One daughter 2 years of age
• Passionate tennis player and Roger Federer fan
